February 16th, 2009

My dear Father in Heaven I praise you this morning, I praise you for the gift of life and for my precious son. Father you have shown us how much you really do love us through David and I am so grateful for your unfailing love, it means so much to me. You are the way, the truth, and the life and I am so glad to know and love you like I do. In your name Amen.

I just had to make a public prayer of thanks today so that all of you can pray my prayer with me. When we got here today the doctors told us that he was doing much better today, but I wasn't going to believe it until I saw it. And then I saw him, and he is doing soooo much better!! His right side is so much stronger, he was using his right arm to pull himself up and had good function in that side. His speech is MUCH better, he still has some facial paralysis and he does have some speech problems still, but it is almost 100% better then yesterday. His thoughts are coming quickly and he is forming words without any problem. He looks better overall, PRAISE GOD.

This whole experience has taught me so much about my son and myself, I know deep in my heart that the Lord is using this to teach me those things, that is just one of the many reasons. It has proven to me without a doubt that the Lord is there for us through all things, all of the time and he is in control- I AM NOT. For those of you who don't know me, I am the biggest control freak out there, and this experience has taught me if nothing else to give up that control and rely solely on the Lord. My faith and love for the Lord is so much stronger today then any other time in my life. My love for my boy has become stronger and the bond that he and I share now is so great. I fell to my knees when the surgeon told us that when Dave could speak again his first words were "How is my mom?" I was astonished that his love for me was so great and verbalized. The Lord is doing mighty things through this whole ordeal, and these that I have mentioned are just a few.

  1. We are so grateful and praising God as a family for David's progress, for the building of your faith, and encouragement given by God Himself through His children. I can't ever read your blogs without crying and as I was reading this last one, my youngest daughter Lucy Rose (age 6 - Lauren Jovanovich's cousin), came up, saw I was reading it, saw David's picture and said, "Mama, I care about that boy." It was so sweet! And we don't even know you or have ever spoke, but that is what the body of Christ is all about. I am shedding tears of joy for you and for all that God is doing and will do. May God's blessing of love, healing, peace, strength, and His presence, fill your home, your car, the hospital room. . .wherever you are, HE WILL BE!
    In Christ,
Carrie Olsen (and Lucy Rose too)

  3. I am on my face in gratitude praising God for His goodness and unfailing love....He ALWAYS brings good out of trials; He is a promise keeper!
We are so fortunate to know and love Him and I am certain that someone out there will come to know him by witnessing you and your family lean on Him through this time. Thank you, Lord Jesus. xoxo

  4. The Evans family has been following the blog daily; and we pray continously for Dave and your entire family. Our church (St Johns) and fellow Christians are also keeping a close eye on the blog; we are praying for recovery from surgery, the right new heart, as well as strength and wellness for all of you during this time.

    Love

  5. Sue here: You had made a comment: Some of you have read on the pump website that it is possible for the heart to repair itself while on the pump, while this is true the doctors do not think that David has a chance with that because his heart is so damaged.

Keep your faith. Rely on divine healing as our Lord promised. Anything is possible!!!!

  6. David, I just wanted to let you know that we are thinking and praying for you onboard the Boxer. It was so great to be able to take care of you. You reminded me of why I became a Nurse, our walks through the ICU, your talks of childhood memories, and of your family. The corpsmen who helped take care of you, ask about you all of the time. Sorry, I just got this link this week, but have been following it whenever I can get the chance to log on. I just wanted to say thank you for being so strong and brave. Please know that we are all praying for you and your family from way out here (not sure where we are) and that we are thinking of you daily. Get well soon (that is an order)!!!!!! Our best wishes!!! It's alraedy made a dramatic impact on mine, I know.
